Project Overview

PIPELINE ACTUATION CONTROL WERE APPROACHED BY A MINING CUSTOMER TO SUPPLY NEW SKIDS AND PANELS FOR THEIR GOLD REFINING PROCESS.

PAC’s Engineering team designed and manufactured the skids and panels locally at the WA facility. Working locally thereby allowed for minimal downtime and scheduling impacts. Multiple design changes were also made during construction to account for customer changes and requirements, as well as to increase safety precautions.

During the process, the team recognised that the IP66 Cabinet rating meant that in the event of a leak within the pipework, the cabinet would be filled with oxygen gas, leading to a high-risk situation.

Our team of Engineers proposed the utilisation of a vent to allow oxygen to leave the cabinet in the event of a leak. This reduced the rating from IP66, to “weatherproof”. The customer was comfortable with this design change, given the sizeable risk reduction.

This project required a completely oxygen cleaned assembly to be appropriate for its application. This presented a number of challenges as we received multiple oxygen cleaned components from various suppliers. QA/QC checks were required on incoming goods to ensure cleanliness of the components (and subsequently the system) would be maintained. Multiple components were found to be non-compliant and were rejected or cleaned again within our own facilities.

PAC were able to lean upon HIFraser’s engineering and oxygen cleanliness experience in order to deliver this project on time, within budget and most importantly, compliant with all of the customer requirements.
